Core i3-4100U is a mainstream ULV processor in the Intel's Haswell line up launched in 2013. The term mainstream is differentiated from the performance segment priced significantly higher and therefore, out of the reach of "maintream" customers. The term ULV, if you are un initiated ( we do respect the highly knowledgeable readers), stands for Ultra Low Voltage, which essentially means that the processor works on a comparatively low core voltage, and, therefore, consumes much lower power, making them suitable for thin notebooks with higher battery life.
Haswell is a successor to the Intel's Ivy Bridge platform. But the performance improvement especially in the CPU is not as dramatic as has been in the earlier launches of architecture. The optimization in the branch prediction and others has improved the CPU performance by about 10% for the same clock frequency. The Haswell not supports AVX2 and FMA instructions.

Introducing Best Processors at Blogspot
However, google somehow did not like the website. Its number pageviews plummetted from over 5k a day to just over 700 a day. We stopped writing for processors.
After a gap of about one year we have restarted this website on google's own blogging platform - blogspot. We are not sure, it this is something google will like. We will try to do our best to give relevant information to the users and keep our fingers crossed and see.
We have found that a lot of people search for popular and low and processors. In laptop segments the Celerons and Core i3 could be more popular than their core i5 and i7 siblings. This is one reason, you will see lots of details about the low end processors comparisons.
We hope that you will find the blogs and comparisons informative and valuable, if not entertaining. We respect your comment, but may publish only those that are not drive by automatic spams. Please do not hesitate to comment - for or against
